Promega, a global leader in biotechnology and molecular biology, deliver career talks to TKATpupils
This year, we have strengthened our connections with industry experts for our Sixth Form students by inviting representatives from Promega, a global leader in biotechnology and molecular biology, to deliver career talks.
The Promega expert, Ann Brine introduced students to the fascinating world of biotechnology, highlighting how advancements in molecular biology are transforming medicine, environmental science, and forensic investigations. The speaker shared insights into the real-world applications of their work, covering topics such as DNA analysis and the development of life-saving diagnostic tools. Their presentation emphasised the vital role of biotechnology in addressing some of the world's most pressing challenges, including mental health and well-being.
In addition to discussing the scientific aspects, the talks offered invaluable career guidance. Students learned about various pathways into the biotech industry, including university degrees, apprenticeships, and research opportunities. The speaker also showcased the diverse range of roles available within the field, from laboratory research and product development to regulatory affairs and science communication.
Many students left the sessions feeling inspired, with some even considering careers in biotechnology for the first time.
