TKATACE and Propel in London

In January this year, we announced that TKATACE (A Champion for Every Child) had secured funding from The National Lottery to continue our work in London.

As part of Propel NDYP (New Deal for Young People), we received an additional £230,000 to enhance students' education through exceptional school-based mentoring.

TKATACE is a unique and innovative pastoral mentoring programme that provides dedicated and specially trained one-on-one mentors for disadvantaged pupils and their families, supporting our mission as a Trust.

Our mentors assist pupils in overcoming barriers to their academic progress as well as their social and emotional development.

In a new report published this week, London Funders (the membership body for funders in the capital and who powers the Propel collaboration) have brought together the learning that has emerged so far to inform the next stage of the collaboration and deepen the collective understanding of what it takes to both fund change and change funding.

The report also highlights what funded organisations are learning about creating change with and for their communities and what they need from funders to deliver this work.

In particular, the report showed that funded organisations such as TKATare laying the groundwork or ‘sowing the seeds’ for change to happen, creating space and structure for bringing community voice to the centre of how they work.

TKATis engaging in partnerships, collaborations and networks that seek to build community-based relationships. The collaboration with pupils, parents, school and community is strengthened through the shared ambition for those pupils who may be experiencing disadvantages, to overcome barriers to success.
